Fear is one of the traits from our survival toolkit that helps humankind survive. The fear is a very basic human emotion that alerts us for our own good. Fear is a useful trait that keeps us safe.

But like every other thing, excess of anything is harmful.

Fear was the by-default reaction of the real danger but the problem lies in the fact that the same reaction of fear is invoked in response to the imaginary threat. The fear sometimes manifests itself into a full-blown panic based on our imaginary danger enlarged by our own chain of thoughts that never halts. Ignorance is the root cause of the anxiety we face when dealing with the unknown.

It becomes difficult to rein in the horse of thoughts that wanders from one worry to another. We fear what will happen to us when we face an unknown situation in the future. It is the fear of the unknown that torment us and sometimes derails our quest for excellence.
