This statement is…
A Positive Affirmation to counter the self-doubt that fosters after a failure.
A Shield to face the onslaught of discouraging & negative words after a defeat.
An Assertion that re-ignites the self-belief.
It highlights a simple process to succeed in any field you set your eyes on. It helps to understand the route taken by experts to reach that title.
The world focuses on the fame & glory of successful people and that overshadows the struggles faced by them. Their stories sometimes portray success as an easy & overnight destination to reach but fail to highlight the hard work & time it takes.
Success is a long journey and everyone has to start that journey as a beginner.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Lao Tzu
Even the basic things that have become a norm for us now, were sometimes too hard to do. It was hard to walk or even talk when we were born but we slowly learned it.
We learned to walk by falling a few times and then getting up back, sometimes by self & sometimes a little help from our parents. The point is that we didn’t give up after a few falls. By rising after every fall, we learned to walk.
Like that Japanese Proverb:
Fall Seven Times, Stand up Eight.
The Struggle is the same but the only thing different now is that we allow the negativity to create an environment of self-doubt in ourselves & fear the criticism that may follow after a failure.
By succumbing to the fear of failing many have abandoned their journey to excellence. But it is those who overcome that fear and persist relentlessly achieve excellence.
It takes dedication and persistence to learn something new. Even the expert faced difficulty in their initial phase but one thing that they never did was to quit. They were dedicated to their goals and were not afraid of failure. They believed failure as a course correction, a chance to improve and attempt once more.
Success is not an overnight process but a journey.
As Robert Collier said:
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
Have a goal, pursue it with all your might, filter our negativity and embrace failure to learn from it. Persist & Prevail.
