Although being birthless, imperishable and immutable, and although I am the lord of all living beings, I manifest in this world by virtue of Yogmaya, My divine internal potency.

Bhagwan Shri Krishna explains to Arjuna about his human form in this mortal world. Bhagwan Shri Krishna remembers his previous births and that is the reason that he mentions teaching Karmayoga to Vivasvan.

Many would question that if Bhagwan Shri Krishna is eternal and timeless, just like our soul, then why is there a beginning(birth) of his existence? To this Bhagwan Shri Krishna clarifies that although he is birthless, imperishable and immutable, and although he is the lord of all living beings, he manifests on this mortal world by his Yogamaya which is His divine internal potency.

Many would question that being super powerful, why can’t he take care of the task from his divine abode? Why does the Supreme Lord have to manifest on this mortal world and take a human form? Bhagwan Shri Krishna replies Lord Krishna replies with the words ‘ajo pi sann avyayatma’ meaning He is unborn having an imperishable body. It is with his Yogmaya that he takes a human form with the help of ‘Satva Prakruti’ and sheds that human form after the purpose of that Avatar is served.

Although being unborn, he incarnates in many forms whenever and wherever he chooses with the help of the nature of sattva or pure goodness and incarnates himself in his original form of Sat-chit-Ananda (pure eternity, knowledge and bliss).

Thus, Bhagwan Shri Krishna is all-powerful, he has the power to manifest in a form if he wishes. He is eternal, yet he can manifest as per his wish with the help of divine internal potency.
