एवं परम्पराप्राप्तमिमं राजर्षयो विदु: |
स कालेनेह महता योगो नष्ट: परन्तप || 2||

In this way, the saintly kings came to know about this science received by the disciplic succession; after a great duration of time, this science of uniting the individual consciousness with the Ultimate consciousness became lost in this world, O Conqueror of the enemy.

Bhagavad-Gita-Chp-4-Verse-2 — -Shloka-HBR-Patel

Bhagwan Shri Krishna highlights the origin of this divine knowledge which is the science of the individual consciousness attaining communion with the ultimate consciousness. This knowledge was passed through the tradition of the saintly kings but with the long passage of time, this knowledge or the yoga was lost.

With the biased touch of the materialistic inclined mind, the interpretation of this divine knowledge shifted in another direction. People translated it to suit their needs and the real essence of this knowledge vanished. The original message was distorted.
