Bhagavad Gita: Understanding One Shloka at a time. (Chp. 4, Verse 16) — HBR Patel
किं कर्म किमकर्मेति कवयोऽप्यत्र मोहिता: |
तत्ते कर्म प्रवक्ष्यामि यज्ज्ञात्वा मोक्ष्यसेऽशुभात् || 16||
What is action and what is inaction? Even the wise are deluded in this regard. Thus I shall explain that action by knowing which you will gain liberation from all the wordly inauspiciousness.
Bhagwan Shri Krishna explains to Arjuna that even the wise are confused in understanding the action and inaction. Liberation depends upon the proper understanding of the action and inaction. This realization can only guide us towards the path of liberation.
Some of us perform actions just for the sense of gratification and we take ownership or doership of that actions. Such action can never help us liberate ourselves from this material world.
However, there are some who perform action that is for the sole intention of liberating their soul from materialistic bondage and attaining Moksha.
Bhagwan Shri Krishna now promises to dispel all the illusion surrounding the action and inaction in the upcoming verses.
