Bhagavad-Gita-Chp-3-Verse-9 — Cover-HBR-Patel

यज्ञार्थात्कर्मणोऽन्यत्र लोकोऽयं कर्मबन्धन: |
तदर्थं कर्म कौन्तेय मुक्तसङ्ग: समाचर || 9||

O Kaunteya(Arjuna) this world is bound by selfish actions except for those actions that are sacrificed (Yagna-Artha) unto the Bhagwan; perform your prescribed duties by being free from the attachment only for the satisfaction of God.

Bhagavad-Gita-Chp-3-Verse-9-Shloka-HBR-Patel

Bhagwan Shri Krishna explained in the previous shloka that why one must continue to perform the actions. Those who want to renounce the world and with it, all the responsibility of performing any action should also renounce the attachment to the action from its mind. Those who renounce physically but are attached with their mind are hypocrites in this spiritual journey.

In this verse, Bhagwan Shri Krishna guides Arjuna on how to perform the action in this world. He highlights that most of the world is engaged in non-yajna (selfish) actions. This becomes the reason for their attachment or bondage to the results of their action.
