नियतं कुरु कर्म त्वं कर्म ज्यायो ह्यकर्मण: |
शरीरयात्रापि च ते न प्रसिद्ध्येदकर्मण: || 8||

Keeping this in mind, perform your prescribed Vedic action; since the action is superior to inaction. Even it is impossible to sustain the body without action.

Bhagavad-Gita-Chp-3-Verse-8-Shloka-HBR-Patel

Bhagwan Shri Krishna says to Arjuna that one must perform the ‘Niyatam’/obligatory actions as prescribed by the Veda. Everyone has a rightful duty according to their existence and one must thrive to complete that responsibility and never opt to remain inactive.

When one is able to control both the mind and senses and connect them with the Bhagwan then one can opt out to perform action as that individual is able to control his senses and attain the ultimate truth that are many trying to achieve.

Bhagwan Shri Krishna advices Arjuna that he should perform his obligatory action and never get attached to its result. Arjuna should never opt for inaction as action is superior than inaction. Even the physical body becomes hard to maintain when we remain inactive.

Being active give us a healthy body. Exercise is to add the extra amount of activity to our routine to be healthy. So, one must never sit idle but perform his obligatory duties.
