Arjuna said: O descendant of Vrsni, what compels people to commit sin against one’s will as if engaged by force?

Bhagavad-Gita-Chp-3-Verse-36-Shloka-HBR-Patel

After knowing what hinders the progress of an individual on the spiritual path, Arjuna asks Bhagwan Shri Krishna the reason behind the way we act enticed by our desires. Are we not apt to overcome the pull of the desires and act free of those desires to avoid committing sin?

Arjuna listens and understands the reasons behind our actions and karma as explained by Bhagwan Shri Krishna. Arjuna compares that to his experience and presents a valid question to clarify the question that is still echoing in the universe.

Why did I act like this when I know that it is not the ideal way?

Why did I commit this Sin when I knew that it is bad?

Why do people act out the sheer force of desires?

Arjuna asks Bhagwan Shri Krishna about that for the entire humankind. Why do individuals come under the influence of the attraction and aversion which should be avoided by all as per the advice of Bhagwan Shri Krishna.

Thinking it to impossible to avoid the feeling of attraction and aversion, Arjuna indirectly asks about the way to avoid the pull of desires.
