यदि ह्यहं न वर्तेयं जातु कर्मण्यतन्द्रित: |
मम वर्त्मानुवर्तन्ते मनुष्या: पार्थ सर्वश: || 23||

O Partha, if I would not engage in my duties carefully, certainly people from everywhere would follow my path in all respects.

Bhagwan Shri Krishna was the son of King Vasudeva from the Vrishni dynasty. Bhagwan performed his duties as a king and never abandoned his duties. Bhagwan Shri Krishna explains that even he has to perform all of the Vedic activities prescribed to him.

Bhagwan Shri Krishna explains that if he abandons his duty, the people will follow his footsteps and abandon the prescribed duties and the world would be in chaos if everyone would abandon their prescribed duties. So, Bhagwan Shri Krishna highlights this to Arjuna to motivate him to perform the rightful duties as a Kshatriya and fight with the enemy standing on the opposite side. If Arjuna somehow abandons his duties, the lesser personalities would follow in his footsteps and…
