सञ्जय उवाच |
एवमुक्त्वा हृषीकेशं गुडाकेश: परन्तप |
न योत्स्य इति गोविन्दमुक्त्वा तूष्णीं बभूव ह || 9||

Sanjay said: Having thus spoken, Gudaakesha, the scorcher of foes, said to Hrishikesha: “ Govinda, I shall not fight”, and became silent.

In the previous verse, Arjuna has highlighted his situation and he took the refuge in the Supreme Power Bhagwan Shri Krishna. Arjuna was unable to decide for himself and thus he was seeking guidance from Bhagwan Shri Krishna.

Dhritarashtra was eager to know about what was going on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Sanjay thus speaks that Arjuna highlights his desire, of not fighting this war, before Bhagwan Shri Krishna. Expressing his desire, Arjuna then becomes silent to receive spiritual guidance.

By becoming silent, Arjuna prepares himself to receive the ultimate spiritual wisdom that can uplift him from this delusional state that he was in. The grief that…
