नेहाभिक्रमनाशोऽस्ति प्रत्यवायो न विद्यते |
स्वल्पमप्यस्य धर्मस्य त्रायते महतो भयात् || 40||

In this yoga, there is no loss in any endeavor, nor there is any counterproductive effect. Even a little of this slightest effort performed righteously saves one from the greatest of dangers.

Bhagwan Shri Krishna in this verse states that in Karma Yoga there is no loss of effort means if the work is once started and left unfinished to break the continuity of that work at some point, that work does not remain fruitless. Also there no evil effect arising from the efforts on this path. Even a little bit of Karma Yoga(that action taken without any desire for any reward) gives protection from the greatest fear.

After reading many Bhasyas, one thing that was common in the explanation of this verse was the example of the farmer and farming. If a farmer puts in the effort to grow his crops by starting from sowing the seeds and lefts the task in the middle i.e…
