For one who is taken birth, death is certain, and for one who is dead, birth is certain. Therefore you ought not to lament over this inevitable fact.

Bhagavad-Gita-Chp-2-Verse-27-Shloka-HBR-Patel

Those who are born on this earth or wherever life exists, are bound to die at one point in time or another. Birth results in Death and Death result in Birth. This is the inevitable truth that all of us have to accept. Birth after death depends on the acts we do in this lifetime or to say in a simple term ‘Karma’. This is the ultimate fact and one should lament for that.

Bhagwan Shri Krishna tries to explain to Arjuna this fact about birth and death. Arjuna was in depression due to the confusion about performing his righteous action. He was in grief and depression due to the attachments to his family and friends under the influence of Maya.

With this shloka, Bhagwan Shri Krishna tries to enlighten Arjuna with a fact that can elevate Arjuna from the grief. The fact is that birth eventually results in death, and death eventually results in birth. Although, it might be easy to convey someone who lost their relatives but difficult to understand when we lose someone near and dear to us.

Arjuna was facing such emotional turmoil. Bhagwan Shri Krishna enlightens Arjuna with ultimate truth that is apt to elevate Arjuna from his grief-stricken state.
