The embodied soul is eternal in existence, imperishable, and infinite. Only the material body is factually perishable. Therefore O descendent of Bharat (Arjuna), fight!
The physical body that is made of the five fundamental elements: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and Space is subjected to destruction. Our physical existence is unreal as indicated in the previous shlokas and this body will perish with time.
The physical existence that we are attached to and for which our every effort is directed to is subject to decay as it is destructible. Our physical existence has a beginning and an end. This physical body is subject to pleasure and pain, as it is the vehicle for enjoying the fruits of our action.
