O Janardana! I have heard from the learned that People whose societal values have eroded dwell in hell for an indefinite period of time.
Arjuna continues to defend his inaction with yet another reason. He heard this from someone learned. He points out that people who destroy spiritual family traditions permanently resides in hell.
The people whose traditional and heritage values are lost are prone to commit vice. Without proper guidance, they won’t do Prayascitta. Without proper repentance, that soul is sure to suffer in hell as a result of sinful activities.
Arjuna points out that by slaying the relatives in the war, the sin would increase on this earth and the souls might have to suffer in hell due to the sins they commit.
Due to Moha, the Judgement of Arjuna was clouded and he found no positive point to engage in the battle and he only pointed out the negative aspects (that too perceived by his clouded judgment) of fighting this war.
From Arjuna’s viewpoint, no good will come out from this war and all will suffer due to this war.
